Optical Fibre Communications in the context of FTTH/B – Presented by Rong Zhao, FTTH Council Europe. At the 3rd edition of the Photonic Integration Conference, on September 26, 2017, at High Tech Campus Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

Optical fibre communications is one of thousands applications based on photonics. To provide a high broadband access for consumers and enterprises, Fibre to the Home (FTTH) and Fibre to the Building (FTTB) are the key architecture in the Next Generation Access (NGA) networks. Until the end of September 2016, more than 280 Million subscribers are using FTTH/B-based solutions over the world, which will significantly increase in next 5-10 years due to the digitalization development. The active and passive infrastructure of FTTH/B does benefit from photonic technologies.
