Bart Verbeek, Chairman Photonics NL, Presents: PhotonicsNL as International Contact Organisation

The association PhotonicsNL is the national technology platform for Dutch Photonics stakeholders and supports Industry (SME + internationals), Universities, Research institutes, Engineering Schools and individuals active in Photonics. In addition PhotonicsNL is the contact for European photonics cluster organizations to help SME’s to benefit from photonic solutions.

About Bart Verbeek

Bart Verbeek received his PhD (cum laude) in physics in 1979 and joined Philips Research in Eindhoven in semiconductor laser research. He was part time professor at the Delft University of Technology. He served as group leader Philips Optoelectronics Research and member of the management team of Philips Optoelectronics, as Director R&D of JDS Uniphase Netherlands BV in Eindhoven and as manager of ThreeFive Photonics BV in Houten. In 2006 he was appointed as independent Chairman of the IOP Photonic Devices Advisory Board. As of 2013 he is also chairman of PhotonicsNL, the national association for Photonics in the Netherlands.

About PhotonicsNL

The Association PhotonicsNL was founded on September 19, 2013 and is the National Technology Platform (NPT) for Photonics in the Netherlands. The main objective is to support Dutch stakeholders in the field of photonics by actively stimulating cooperation between industry, universities and R&D institutes aiming for fundamental and applied research, technology development and education in photonics. As established NTP, PhotonicsNL is the organization for international programs and other NTP organizations. PhotonicsNL has 30 industrial and 110 individual members. PNL contributes to the yearly Photonics Event in the Netherlands with 500 participants including industry and R&D. PNL is recognized and financially supported by the public authorities in the framework of the Dutch Topsector High Tech Systems and Materials by the Ministry of Economic Affairs providing a photonics roadmap and funded R&D projects.
